WASTE CARE
Waste care proposes to reshape the current relationship we have with our household organic waste. We wonder if we, as individuals, can regain agency over our household waste and transform it into something beneficial for us. Is there a step before composting? What happens if we start to "care" for our waste? Does waste "care" for us? In this project, we propose alternative ways to preserve our organic waste and use it as the base to develop beauty care and cosmetics. With simple recipes and fermentation processes, we worked with waste and microbes to take care of our bodies.
Waste care, collaboratively designed with Daniela Tokashiki, involved the active participation of marginalized communities in Eindhoven. Through a series of laboratories and workshops, we empowered these communities to explore the biopotential of household waste and its practical applications.
